We celebrated July 4th on Saturday June 30th with activities throughout the day and fireworks at dusk.
Check out the donations we have received to-date:
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!!! We are still short of our fundraising goal, but will continue to take donations from those who enjoyed the festivities throughout the day and the fireworks. Please consider making a donation.
The day started out hot and muggy and continued to heat up throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who came out in the heat to help us celebrate. We are glad that you chose to spend your day with us.
We started the day off with a free will offering breakfast at the Albany United Methodist Church to benefit the “A Better Life: Brianna’s Hope” Albany Chapter that meets at the church. Breakfast was served from 8 – 10am on Broadway next to the church. Thank you to all who attended and donated to this worthy cause.
State Street was filled with cars, tractors, vendors and emergency vehicles.
Did you get in on the corn hole games in front of the Legion? Looked like they were having a pretty good time.
The Fire Department had a hog roast and fish fry at the fire station. The pulled pork sandwich I had was excellent and I heard good comments on the fish also. Did you get a chance to stop in and try one?
The police sold raffle tickets for two different rifles that will be drawn at the Halloween parade as well as providing free finger printing. If you didn’t get your ticket yet, see any of the officers for a ticket. It only takes one to win!
There were games in the park for the kids. They were having a good time with the games, but then the fire hoses came out and they all flocked to the water to cool off and play in the water. It looked like they had a GREAT time getting soaked!
Some of the vendors in attendance were the Girl Scouts who had Crafts, face painting and a pie throw, Delta Theta Tau had a Bake Sale, the American Legion sponsored the Corn Hole games to benefit the American Cancer Society – Relay for Life, Tri Kappa had Lemon Shake Ups and provided free balloon characters for the kids. We had vendors selling unique yard/garden items and items for the kids to play with.
We hope to keep increasing the number of vendors and activities each year as well as having more and different types of vehicles for your viewing pleasure.
Thank you to all who spent many hours putting this event together. Without your volunteer effort, we could not have had such an awesome day!
If you have suggestions for improving the celebration next year or pictures to share of the events held this year, leave a comment or post a picture on our Facebook page.
